August 8, 2024, MORRIS, IL – In a heartwarming and memorable event on August 3, 2024, Dr. Raymond Meyer, a distinguished orthopedic surgeon at Morris Hospital and an esteemed alumnus of Stritch School of Medicine – Loyola University Chicago, had the unique honor of participating in the recent White Coat Ceremony. This ceremony, a significant milestone in the journey of medical students, marks their formal induction into the medical profession.

Dr. Meyer, who graduated from Stritch School of Medicine (1991), was invited to coat the new batch of medical students, including his own son, Raymond Meyer IV. The ceremony included medical professors, dean and assistant dean, other distinguished doctors and professors from various medical programs as well as alumni, families, staff, and 170 first year medical students. The event was filled with pride and emotion as Dr. Meyer placed the symbolic white coat on his son, signifying the beginning of his journey in medicine.

The White Coat Ceremony is a tradition that emphasizes the importance of compassionate patient care and the ethical responsibilities of being a physician. For Dr. Meyer, this event was not only a professional honor but also a deeply personal one as he witnessed his son take the first steps toward following in his footsteps.

Dr. Meyer represented Morris Hospital with pride in his grey coat. Dr. Meyer sees patients at the Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine offices in Morris, Diamond-Coal City and Joliet. He has served on the Morris Hospital Medical Staff since 1998.
