Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers offers a number of services at the new Morris Hospital YMCA located at 2200 W. Dupont Avenue in Morris. Morris Hospital services at the Y include rehabilitation services (physical, occupational and speech therapy), cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, orthopedics and cardiology office visits, and wellness programs.

PHYSICAL, OCCUPATIONAL AND SPEECH THERAPY

Individuals who are experiencing the physical effects of an injury or medical condition may benefit from physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy from highly qualified licensed therapists, which are available at the Morris Hospital YMCA. Our therapy team stays in close touch with the client’s physician to deliver focused, safe and effective care.

PULMONARY REHABILITATION

Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation program helps improve the well-being and overall quality of life for people with chronic breathing problems. The program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Morris Hospital’s Phase 2 Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a 12-week program that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Morris Hospital YMCA, 2200 W. Dupont Avenue, Morris.

CARDIAC REHABILITATION

Morris Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program helps individuals with heart disease recover faster and regain full, productive lives following a cardiac event, diagnosis or procedure.

Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation is a 12-week program that meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Morris Hospital YMCA, 2200 W. Dupont Avenue, Morris.

ORTHOPEDICS & SPORTS MEDICINE SPECIALISTS

Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is an excellent resources for high quality orthopedic care close to home, including problems associated with the elbow, foot & ankle, hand & wrist, hip, knee, shoulder and spine (neck and back).

Some of the providers from the Orthopedics & Sports Medicine practice have office hours at the Morris Hospital YMCA, meaning patients may be scheduled for an appointment with their provider at this location. CARDIOVASCULAR SPECIALISTS

Morris Hospital Cardiovascular Specialists is an experienced, local resource for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease, high blood pressure, heart failure, abnormal cholesterol, irregular heartbeats and arrythmia, circulation problems of the lower extremity, and peripheral artery disease.

Some of the providers from the Cardiovascular Specialists practice have office hours at the Morris Hospital YMCA, meaning patients may be scheduled for an appointment with their provider at this location. The cardiology providers with office hours at the YMCA include Dr. Mary Menz, cardiologist, and Sherese Pruss, Cardiology Nurse Practitioner.

WELLNESS PROGRAMS

As part of our commitment to improving the health of area residents, we are pleased to offer a range of wellness programs in collaboration with the YMCA. These Wellness Programs are free and open to the community. You do not have to be a Y member to participate.

  • Senior Fitness Classes – A variety of times are offered throughout the week. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early as class size is limited to 20 participants on a first come, first serve basis.   • Pedaling for Parkinson’s – Pedaling a bicycle at a rapid pace may change the life of someone living with Parkinson’s disease. Classes empower participants by optimizing their physical function, improving gait, balance, speech, handwriting, and overall endurance, helping to delay the progression of Parkinson’s symptoms. Classes meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1-2 p.m. Participants must receive clearance from their doctor to participate. For more information or to register, call the Y at 815.513.8080.

PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT

When you come for your appointment, please remember to bring the following:

  • Driver’s License or a valid ID
  • Insurance information
  • Referral Letter (if required)
  • Reports, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, etc. and any other relevant information
  • List of medications (if any)

We recognize that your time is valuable, and we make every effort to stay on schedule. Occasionally emergencies or patients require a little more time and may cause delays beyond our control. We apologize if we keep you waiting.

TO CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT

If you need to cancel an appointment, please call during business hours at least 1 day prior to your scheduled appointment so that we can offer your appointment time to patients on our waiting list.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Will Morris Hospital patients share space with Y members?

Morris Hospital patients and YMCA members will use the same door to enter the building. From there, our patients will enter the Morris Hospital suite where they will be greeted by a Morris Hospital patient access/service representative in our private reception area. The Morris Hospital rehab gym, rehab equipment, patient exam rooms, and physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology treatment rooms are only for Morris Hospital patients and separate from the rest of the Y.

If I have an appointment with a cardiology or orthopedic provider at the new Y, will I always come to this location for appointments?

Not necessarily. Our Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Cardiovascular Specialists practice both offer multiple office locations for patient appointments. The YMCA will be an additional office location in Morris for both practices. Each time you schedule an appointment, our patient service representatives will work with you to help you select a location for your next visit.

Are all of the services at the Diagnostic & Rehabilitative Center on Gore Road moving to the new Y?

No. Immediate Care, Occupational Medicine and outpatient Laboratory services will remain at the Diagnostic & Rehabilitative Center located at 100 W. Gore Rd., Morris. The following services are relocating to the Morris Hospital YMCA at 2200 W. Dupont Avenue on December 16, 2024: Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Language Pathology.
