Morris Hospital to Host Pre-Operative Ankle & Foot Surgery Class
Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers is offering a new class the second Wednesday of every month for patients who are scheduled for ankle or foot surgery.
The first class will be held on Wednesday, June 14, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, 1051 W. U.S. Route 6 – Suite 400. There is no fee to attend.
Led by a member of the Morris Hospital physical therapy staff, patients will learn mobility expectations and considerations following common foot and ankle surgeries. Topics include educating patients on how to set themselves up for a safe and successful recovery, as well as how to be safe and compliant with post-operative recovery.
Morris Hospital Inpatient Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services Valerie Skroch describes the class as “an opportunity for patients to come and ask questions in a group setting with knowledgeable physical therapy staff who will help them make the necessary modifications.”
Family members and caregivers are welcome to attend to learn how to make the appropriate modifications to the home environment, obtain necessary equipment, and practice post-operative restrictions before surgery.
