FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What can I expect on the day of my surgery/procedure?

The date of your surgery/procedure will be scheduled through your surgeon’s office.

Prior to your procedure, the anesthesia and nursing staff will review your history, including medications, to ensure your safe surgical care.

The evening before your surgery/procedure, you will receive a phone call from a Morris Hospital representative to confirm your arrival time for the next day.

On the day of your surgery/procedure, you and your support person(s) will park in the visitor parking lot off of High Street and enter through the main entrance of the hospital. After checking in at the main lobby registration desk, you will be accompanied to the Surgery department. After we get you settled in, up to 2 support persons age 18 or older will be able to stay with you until it’s time to take you into the operating or procedure room.

When your surgery/procedure is over, the physician and/or nursing staff will contact your support person. Following your recovery, you will be reconnected with your support person and they will be able to remain with you until you are ready to go home.

If you have any questions prior to your surgery, please contact your physician’s office.

What are your surgical facilities like?

surgery tableThe technology and facilities in our Surgical Services Suite are as state-of-the-art as it gets as the result of a phased, $13.2 million renovation that was completed in early 2024.

Our brand new operating rooms were built to accommodate today’s modern technology. A new sterile core hallway connects our sterile processing area to the operating rooms to assure that surgical instrumentation remains in a sterile environment at all times.

Recent renovations have also resulted in:

  • 5 new Same Day Surgery rooms where patients who are going home the same day begin and end their surgical visit
  • 2 new dedicated rooms for Endoscopy procedures
  • a minor procedure room
  • dedicated surgical consult rooms to provide a private setting for family members to meet with the physician following the procedure
  • a dedicated surgical waiting room for support persons who are waiting for a loved one in surgery
  • a dedicated exit that offers the highest level of privacy for patients leaving the hospital after having surgery.

Our advanced surgical capabilities also include Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery for total hip, total knee, and partial knee replacement surgeries.
